Spring 2023 Season

The Annapolis Junior Rowing Association (AJR) Spring 2023 Season is open to all male and female athletes in the 8th through 12th grade.  AJR’s focus is sweep rowing, primarily in 4+s and 8+s.  Practices will consist of workouts on the water, erg training and land workouts (conditioning).  Athletes will build strength and endurance while learning technique, teamwork and personal responsibility.

When and Where: February 21 – May 19, 2023. Regular practice times are Monday – Friday afternoons from 4:30pm – 6:30pm (February 21 – March 10) and 4:30pm – 7:00pm (March 13 – May 19) at Camp Woodlands (2744 Riva Road, Annapolis, MD).

Orientation Meeting: Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at The Byzantium Event Center (Greek Church) directly across from Camp Woodlands (2747 Riva Rd, Annapolis, MD 21401).

Registration Dues: $1,150, payable by: (i) Zelle (ajrtreasurer@gmail.com); (ii) check made out to Annapolis Junior Rowing and mailed to PO Box 6804, Annapolis, MD 21401 or brought to Orientation Meeting; (iii) via AJR Venmo; (please include 2%  processing fee); or (iv) AJR Paypal (please include 2%  processing fee).  Registration Dues are non-refundable.  Registration Dues not paid in a timely manner will be subject to a $250 late fee.

For families registering more than one athlete, a 10% discount is available on the Registration Dues for the second athlete only.  Additionally, parents may earn a partial refund of Registration Dues for significant volunteer work related to Regattas, which will be further discussed at the Orientation Meeting.

Similar to recent Seasons, the Registration Dues include use of Camp Woodlands and equipment, as well as coaching, but do not include Regatta Expenses.  Coaches decide who participates in Regattas.  By marking their availability for Regattas in TeamSnap, parents and athletes agree to pay their share of Regatta Expenses that will be assessed after each Regatta.  The amount of Regatta Expenses will depend on parents’ availability and willingness to participate (carpool and volunteer) for Regattas and will be discussed at the Orientation Meeting.
