Winter Season

2017-2018 Winter Schedule

 

Annapolis Junior Rowing Association (AJR) is now accepting registrations for its Winter Training season. AJR’s Winter Training Season is open to all male and female athletes in 8th through 12th grade. No prior experience in the sport of rowing is required. 

What: Winter Training practices will consist of strength and conditioning training, as well as general training for cardiovascular fitness, core strength, and flexibility. 

Practice: Monday through Friday from 3:45 to 5:15 PM.  Practice for all rowers will begin on December 4 and run through March 2. No practice will be held on December 22 through January 2. 

Location:Practices will be held at Fairwinds CrossFit located at  7364 Edgewood Rd, Bay 1, Annapolis MD.

World Indoor Rowing Championships (formerly Mid Atlantic Erg Sprints): Athletes training with AJR this winter are expected to register for and compete. The indoor competition is scheduled for February 17-18 2017 in Alexandria, VA.  It is an individual competition in which each rower races on an ergometer for time.

General information about the World Indoor Rowing Championship can be found at http://www.ergsprints.com/.  Because each rower must register themselves individually online for this competition, the entry fee is not covered by the cost of winter training.

All participants will also be required at minimum to have signed an online waiver through USRowing.
